The things people say

Units of Sound:-  "I found Units of Sound while searching the Web for a computer-based tool that might help a first grade dyslexic child. Without considering the differences in accent between American and British English, I ordered Units of Sound because it met my needs:

  • The software pre-tests students so that they begin at the appropriate level
  • Students can work independently
  • Progress can be tracked and supported by additional one-to-one instruction by a teacher or parent
Perhaps because she hears the British accent through the media, my little student readily accepted the software. The pronunciation variances did not impede her progress. Even more important, she seemed to genuinely like working through the lessons. They're short, interactive, and they offer immediate feedback.
Based on my experience with Units of Sound, in terms of both usability and technical support, I have no reservations in recommending it to other U.S.-based users."

Judy T. DiLeo, D.Ed. - USA

Units of Sound:-  "We are able to reach many more pupils now that we are using Units of Sound run by the Learning Support Assistants at our school. The children enjoy it and it allows me to concentrate my specialist teachers on the 'trickier' students. Thank you!"

SENCo - Wiltshire

Units of Sound: Literacy that fits:- "Fantastic! is too small a word to promote Literacy that fits. It enabled my daughter to work independently and at her own speed. As it is so simple and can be done at home on the computer, (always a good incentive), persuasion is never a problem (thank goodness). This in turn, gives her the confidence to have a go when she is within the classroom. Her reading and spelling has improved and as Literacy that fits goes to such a high level she is still working though and constantly improving. A big thank you from the whole family

Sandra Chalmers (parent) - London

Units of Sound: Literacy that fits:- "I found that the Units of Sound was a very good program for me because it helped me with my reading and writing. When you listen to the man talking he talks really clear and is easy to understand. Dictation was the most helpful because it told you to put the right punctuation. Over all it was a very good program and I hope that you enjoy it."

Megan Chapman (age 10) - London

Units of Sound:-  "One thing I did in my lessons was a thing called Units of Sound. When I first did it Units of Sound was on a tape and you read from a book. I found it very helpful. Over the years like most things it has improved and is now a proper computer programme. I have seen the latest version and have been impressed. I have found it helpful, easy to use and it is so user-friendly as well - as in layout and background colour - but if you do make a mistake, or an error, you can easily go back and correct it. I recommend it to any one."

Richard Cranfield (adult) - London

Units of Sound: Literacy that fits:- "As an adult using Literacy that fits, I would like to say how easy it is to manoeuvre around. It also gives me the opportunity to improve my reading and spelling, without anyone else knowing. I am still working my way through, but it is giving me the confidence to fill in forms and do other day to day tasks that I would have usually shied away from. I would like to say a big Thank you."

James (adult) - London
