Welcome to Units of Sound
version 5 support

Version 5 is the first edition to have an individual web support link embedded into the programme.

How to transfer your Student Records.

Units of Sound v5 can make use the records you have for Units of Sound v4. All you have to do is find out where they are and tell Units of Sound v5 where to find them.

Open V4 Student Management, and then open the 'System Options'. If you have a very old version of UofS you may not have this option, follow these instructions.

This will open this box:

Note down the 'Student data file location' (you could highlight it, then 'copy'. This would save making a mistake when writing this location down).

Close down v4

Open Student Management in V5

Either 'paste' - (if you used 'copy' before ) or type the location or press the Browse button and navigate to the correct folder.

That's it. You're done.

Early Version of UofSV4

If you have an original V4 UofS and have never used the free updates you will not have the 'System Options'. You will have to find the Student's Data Files yourself. To do this you need to look in the Units of Sound program folder.
First find the V4 short cut on your desk top. Right click, choose properties.

Make a note of where the program is stored on your system. This is the 'Start in:' path.

Navigate to this location and open the Units of Sound programme folder.

Open the file 'common.ini' in this folder. (It should open in Notebook.) Look for the line: data file = c:\uofs_v4

Copy this line after the = sign. e.g. c:\uofs_v4

Open UofS V5 Student Mangement and System Options and change the 'Student data file location' to the location of the 'data file' you have just copied.

Either 'paste' - (if you used 'copy' before ) or type the location or press the Browse button and navigate to the correct folder.

That's it. You're done.

Click for a printable .pdf version of these instructions. Any other problems please create a support request ticket.
