Student Management

At the heart of Units of Sound is Student Management giving complete control over every student’s programme.

In Student Management it is possible to:

•  Set options

•  Screen students

•  View the students’ progress

•  Print out records

In Options, you can set for an overlap pattern for Reading and Spelling. This is where the student works on each page twice before moving on and is particularly suitable for statemented students. You can also disable the recording function here if you do not wish a student to use this facility. This will mean that the microphone icon will not appear on any screen. The final option is for northern or southern pronunciation.

There are just two screening tests: one for Reading and one for Spelling.

The Dictation and Memory programmes are set from the Spelling result: 24 pages behind for Dictation and 5 pages behind for Memory. If the student has not reached this level these programmes are unavailable until the correct level is reached.

Students’ progress can be seen on the ‘Pages Overview’ screens where the dates the student worked and the scores for Spelling, Memory and Dictation are displayed.

All records for the four programmes can be printed.
